Tunitas Creek Family Farm

Saturday, September 14th, marked our first Halloween field trip here at Haunted Bay. We took a leisurely drive to the Tunitas Creek Family Farm to pick up our first pumpkins of the season! It was good timing too as this was grand opening day. Arriving early in the season we had the rare pleasure of removing our pumpkins from the vines ourselves. Over the coming weeks the good people at Tunitas Creek Family Farm will be cutting the pumpkins off the vines for easy selection.

Easy that is unless you are looking for that perfect pumpkin. There are plenty that will catch your eye making selecting difficult and the family assures us that in the next few weeks they will be bringing more and bigger pumpkins in from their other fields. Looking for something different? No problem, in addition to the traditional orange variety, Tunitas grows the white Valencia, red Cinderella, and our favorite, the blue/green Jarradale pumpkins.

Tunitas Creek Family Farm is more than just pumpkins. You can get hay bales, Indian corn, gourds, and bundles of corn stalks for your fall decorating. They also have several displays set up including a farm couple, an old tractor, a witch, and a scene where you can be a farming couple or their pig by poking your head through an appropriate opening.

The Tunitas Creek Family Farm is easy to find. The route to the farm is well marked with colorful pumpkin signs. Simply make your way to Half Moon Bay and head south on Hwy 1. Turn left on Tunitas Creek Road and proceed about two miles. The Tunitas Creek Family Farm is on the left hand side. Note: Please don't follow Yahoo Map's directions to the farm as it is nowhere near where Yahoo says it is. Use our directions - check our Events Calendar for this event.
