Stanly Lane Pumpkin PatchReviewed 09/27/08 ![]() Stanly Lane Pumpkin Patch ![]() Pumpkins and produce ![]() Pumpkin-lined path ![]() Pumpkins in the field ![]() Hay pyramid ![]() View from inside the hay pyramid ![]() Marketplace at Stanly Lane Pumpkin Patch On a blisteringly hot day that was reminiscent more of October in the Sahara than October in Northern California, we made our way to the Stanly Lane Pumpkin Patch in Napa. This is a very pretty pumpkin patch set in a field next to the Stanly Lane Marketplace. We roamed through sunflower and corn-lined pathways filled with several different varieties of beautiful pumpkins and interspersed with aging farm equipment. Kids will enjoy playing on the large 13 layer high hay bale pyramid and if it's as hot on your visit as it was on ours, you might enjoy joining them in exploring the tunnel that twists its way from the bottom to the top of the pyramid. With hay bales being excellent insulation and the rise in the tunnel providing natural ventilation, it was quite pleasant inside. After cooling off in the pyramid, we were ready to battle the heat again and find our perfect pumpkin. Between the large selection in the field (orange field pumpkins, Jarradale, Cinderella, Luminas, and more) and the numerous bins by the entrance filled with smaller varieties of sugar and miniatures as well as a vast array of squash, gourds, and Indian corn we picked out more than we had originally intended. The spending spree didn't end there. There is a great produce stand next to the field where you can purchase strawberries, grapes, melons, and other produce that will put your local supermarket to shame. And don’t miss the Marketplace where you’ll find great bottled sauces, oils, cheeses, gourmet coffee, cakes, and Fall decorations. They even have a great deli-case where you can buy pre-made sandwiches and much needed drinks to take out to the beautiful picnic tables adjacent to the pumpkin patch. There is a great bench swing there too! Perfect to cool off the boiling blood and crumbling bones. All in all, Stanly Lane offers many choices of pumpkins and gourds in a beautiful setting. We recommend a visit! Be sure to take a look at our Events Calendar or our map of pumpkin patches and haunted houses to find all the other great events going on in the Bay Area.
