It's been awhile since we stopped by one of my favorite Half Moon Bay patches, Pumpkin Depot, so we decided to give it another visit.
Pumpkin Depot offers a wide variety of pumpkins (giants, field, Jarrahdale, Kabocha, minis), multiple varieties of gourds (Swan, bottle, turban, warted), squash, super cute mini hay bales that are perfect for decorating, corn stalks, a few gift shop items, and more.
I was particularly impressed this year by the quality, sizes, variety, and prices of the pumpkins. We would have been happy to take home most of them. As it was, we took home two large and four small pumpkins as well as a gourd for only $26.
Before picking out our pumpkins we spent some time watching Pumpkin Depot's ducks in the Birdie Bunkhouse and we could have spent hours watching the cute free range chickens digging through the straw covering the patch with their little feet. It was super cute to watch them push the straw behind them as they did their little chicken dance.
Pumpkin Depot, which has been around since 1993, has arranged a very nicely decorated series of Halloween inspired vignettes along the edge of their patch. Kids will enjoy watching the animated trees, trolls, and skeletons. There are several photo-op areas with giant pumpkin displays, which are perfect for pictures with the little ones. There is also a kiddie play area featuring a long hay tunnel that a couple of kids were having fun in the day we visited.
So go have some fun at this small but oh so cute pumpkin patch - they even have lights in case you want to make your visit after the sun has gone down.
