Oluf's Ranch Pumpkin Patch
899 Shiloh Rd., Windsor
Reviewed by Hauntmistress, 10/13/2007
Located in the town of Windsor in the North Bay, Oluf's Ranch Pumpkin Patch is a picturesque patch offering a huge field of pumpkins in multiple varieties from the standard orange field pumpkins to whites, blues, and a wide selection of giants. You can spend a good deal of time roaming the rows of pumpkins in search of the ones for you. They have sturdy wagons to haul your pumpkins in - or a kid or two.
Speaking of kids, they will enjoy the little hay maze, hay pyramid, and the huge green lawn adjacent to the pumpkin field in which to run around. Shaded picnic tables are provided for families.
As you roam the field, you'll hear moo-ing coming from the many cows that make Oluf's their home. They have a small herd in their corral where we spent a good deal of time watching a cow nurse her calves and several more in their petting zoo where we hand-fed a very sweet cow slices of pumpkin, which she grabbed with her massive yet surprisingly agile tongue.
In addition to the cows in the petting zoo, Oluf's also has bunnies, sheep, fowl, and a chicken mothering a recent brood of cute, fluffy baby chicks.
Unfortunately, we were running late and did not get a chance to visit their corn maze ($8) or partake of their hayride ($5). We're told the patch also offers inflatable jumpers, face painting, music, BBQ food, and drinks on certain weekends.
