Muelrath Ranches Pumpkin Patch
3800 Walker Ave., Santa Rosa
Reviewed 9/27/14 by Hauntmistress
If you are looking in the North Bay for a sincere pumpkin patch worthy of Linus, look no further than Muelrath Ranches.
This compact patch has a lot to offer! It is family owned and operated and everything they sell is very locally produced either on the Muelrath's own ranch or at nearby farms, such as the wonderful honey produced just down the street. Pickle lovers will want to avail themselves of the free samples and purchase a jar or two of the homemade sweet and dill pickles or their wonderful pickled beets.
On our first visit we were immediately greeted by a friendly and helpful family member who pointed out all the activities and products that their beautiful patch has to offer. She also gave us good cooking tips for the squash!
The biggest dilemma we had while visiting the patch was which of the many varieties and sizes of pumpkins, gourds, and squash to put in our wheelbarrow and take home (cash or check only, so come prepared). They were all beautiful and in great condition and displayed beautifully throughout the patch. As Muelrath Ranches’ website says, “Our Pumpkin Patch is unique both for the quality of our pumpkins and the size of our patch. Our unique pumpkin stems, colors, and varieties are our trademark.” And the prices are good too. Take advantage of the four picnic tables to rest at while you contemplate your purchases!
The patch has a beautiful little corn maze that's perfect for the very little ones (they can't get lost) and a dark and spooky little haunted house with tight and twisting passageways made of hay bales around an old farm outbuilding. Kids and adults alike will enjoy climbing to the top of the Muelrath's big hay pyramid or a taking a leisurely hay ride around the ranch. Listen for the bell to toll, it signals that the ride is ready for you. All for free!
Make reservations in advance for the Campfire in the Corral on Friday and Saturday nights from 6 pm-9 pm (weather permitting). For $10 you’ll take a hay ride to two fire pits where you’ll roast a hot dog and marshmallows and have some hot cider (or coffee and hot chocolate if you prefer) and cookies!
