Nicasio Valley Farms Pumpkin Patch
5300 Nicasio Valley Road, Nicasio
Haunted Bay visited Nicasio Valley Farms Pumpkin Patch on a warm, clear day, with the sun shining on the pumpkins and making the patch look like it was a little piece of heaven. Nicasio is about 30 miles north of San Francisco and it's a nice drive through Marin to get there. At the Farm there are pumpkins galore spread out though the field, all ready to be taken home at very reasonable prices.
When you are in Nicasio, you feel like you are out in the country, and the patch is no different. It is set up with cute displays of pumpkins, scarecrows, and gourds that make great photo opportunities.
There is a wonderful selection of produce, from tomatoes to peppers to lettuce to squash and also honey! In addition to our pumpkins, we took home a few varieties of tomatoes that were excellent.
The staff is friendly and willing to share stories about the town and the other pumpkin patches in the area. They are also very knowledgeable about pumpkins in case you have any questions about varieties or cooking.
There is a picnic area that offers great views of the patch and plenty of space for just roaming through the pumpkins. For kids, they offer two hay mazes and an inflatable jumper.
This year Nicasio is also holding Harvest Day at the Farm on Oct. 17 from 10 am - 4 pm. Admission is free and they will have pony rides, music, food, roping, 4-H exhibits, hay rides, native plant sales, games, crafts, and more!
Be sure to be on the lookout for the flying wild turkeys on your visit!
