Spookycon 2004 Preview

Bride of Spookycon

The preliminary details for Spookycon 2004 have just been announced. Spookycon will be held Halloween weekend October 30-31, 2004, at the Miyako Hotel in San Francisco's Japantown.

For those of you who are unfamiliar with Spookycon it is billed as the premiere convention of all things dark and spooky in San Francisco. The conference focuses mainly on new and cutting edge authors and artists of the gothic and horror genres.  Speakers at this year's Spookycon will include:

Warren Ellis, author of over thirty five graphic novels including Transmetropolitan, Lazarus Churchyard, and Planetary.

Christa Faust, author of Control Freak and Hoodtown as well as numerous short stories. Christa Faust's website

DGK Goldberg, author of Skating on the Edge, Doomed to Repeat It, and the soon to be released Wrong Turns collection of short stories.  DGK Goldberg's website

Caitlin R. Kiernan, author of five critically acclaimed novels, The Five of Cups, Silk, Threshold, Low Red Moon, and most recently, Murder of Angels. Caitlin R. Kiernan's website

Bernie Wrightson, artist extraordinaire, is best known for his comic book artwork in Swamp Thing, Frankenstein, Batman, and The Punisher as well as story art for such famous Hollywood films as Spiderman and Ghostbusters. Bernie Wrightson's website

In addition to speakers the convention will have vendors selling all manner of gothic and horror related items.

Pre-conference tickets are available from the Spookycon website for $40 until July 1st. Tickets will also be available at the conference for $25 per day or $50 for the full two day conference. Special room rates for the Miyako Hotel are also available for conference attendees.
