Be a Haunter This Halloween

Whether you need some cash or are looking for a volunteer opportunity, there are many haunted houses that are offering paid positions or looking for un-paid helpers to scare people or assist with set design and construction, ticketing, make-up, and more.

Pirates of Emerson in Pleasanton is seeking crew members 18 years or older to help scare customers. They also need help building the attractions and working in the ticket booth. Applications will be accepted Saturday, Sept. 10, 2011, from 11 am-2 pm at its location in the Alameda County Fairgrounds.

Candle Lighters, a non-profit volunteer organization that raises funds for non-profit groups and community-based projects in the Tri-Valley area, is looking for students 12 years or older, or in Junior High, to work at the annual Ghost House in Fremont. Sign-up days are Oct. 1 and 8, 2011, from 8:30 am-1 pm at the Ghost House.

Goblyns Glen offers an evening trick or treat experience through a Goblyn village and then later at night transforms into Shadow Hills, a scary take on Goblyns Glen. They are seeking volunteers to help with design and construction, as well as actors to help scare the visitors. Email them if you are interested!

Halloween Haunt at Great America in Santa Clara is accepting applications for monsters and other positions such as line control, builders, and technicians. They are also seeking Halloween Haunt Street Team members to do park promotions, including on-site promotions and hearse visitations throughout the Bay Area. You must be 18 years or older.

If you are interested in scaring people, being a makeup artist, or being a security guard then Alien Extreme in San Jose wants you. All of their positions are paid and include a season-end bonus if you work the entire month of October. Applicants must be 18 years or older.

If you’re in the Sacramento area, Callson Manor Haunted House in Roseville is looking for employees for the Halloween season.

Also in Sacramento, Fright Planet is seeking energetic people who want to have a lot of fun by joining their volunteer team.

Fear Overload in San Leandro is looking for volunteers for their two haunted attractions. Positions available include construction, marketing, scaring customers, administration, and security.

Fright Fest at Six Flags in Vallejo held open auditions in late August, but they may still have openings available for their annual haunted attractions this year.

Similarly, job interviews have already been conducted for the new Winchester Mystery House Fright Night, but they may still be looking for a few good people.
