Safe and Sober Free Cab Rides
In 2010, Berg Injury Lawyers paid for 273 cab rides for people who felt they were too impaired to drive or didn't have a safe way home on Halloween. Revelers in Alameda, Oakland, Berkeley, San Francisco, and Sacramento will once again be offered this potentially life saving treat come Halloween. Berg Injury Lawyers' Safe and Sober Free Cab Ride Home program will run from 10 pm on Monday, October 31, through 4 am on Tuesday, November 1, 2011. Due to the popularity of the program, a cap of $35 will be placed on each ride home.
"If you think that having just one or two drinks won't impair your ability to drive, think again because it does," said William Berg, founder and principal of Berg Injury Lawyers. "Because Halloween is so widely celebrated in our area, I want to provide local residents with a safe alternative home. The safe rides home are meant to protect not only those who are celebrating, but others on the road as well."
To request a free cab ride home within Alameda, Oakland, and Berkeley city limits, individuals can call Veterans Cab at (800) 281-4488 and tell them the ride is on Berg Injury Lawyers. Veterans Cab can provide rides home from the East Bay to San Francisco but not from San Francisco to the East Bay.
To request a free cab ride home within the city limits of San Francisco, individuals can call Luxor Cab at (415) 282-4141 and tell them the ride is on Berg Injury Lawyers. Rides home must be within San Francisco.
For a ride within Sacramento, call Yellow Cab Company of Sacramento at (916) 444-2222 and tell them the ride is on Berg Injury Lawyers. Patrons must be picked up at a restaurant, hotel, or bar within Downtown Sacramento to qualify for a free ride. Rides home must be within Sacramento.
Cab rides are made available to area residents who otherwise might attempt to drive home after drinking. Rides are provided to an individual's residence--not to other drinking locations. For the safety of all cab drivers, patrons are asked to remove any masks or facial coverings while riding in cabs. Drivers have the right to use their discretion when accepting fares.
