Bodega Celebrates 'The Birds'

To celebrate the 50th anniversary of Alfred Hitchcock's iconic movie, 'The Birds', the towns of Bodega and Bodega Bay are offering a number of rare treats this Memorial weekend.
Hitchcock fans will not want to miss a rare opportunity to take docent led tours inside the historic Potter Schoolhouse and St. Teresa of Avila Church, the oldest continuously operated church in Sonoma County. The Potter Schoolhouse is a private residence and rarely open to the public.
On Sunday, September 1st (5-9pm) in Bodega, is the adult oriented kick-off where there will be docent led tours plus a special three-course gourmet dinner at the Casino Bar & Grill, a living history performance, and memorabilia from 'The Birds'.
The fun continues in Bodega on Monday, September 2nd (10am-6pm) with the main family festival featuring special tours inside the Potter Schoolhouse, church, and cemetery. A Parade of Tippi Hedren and Alfred Hitchcock look-alikes, accompanied by the Hubbub Club marching band, local chefs and wine and cheese tasting with live Jazz. Enjoy free entertainment; meet local artists with a variety of handcrafted wares and memorabilia from 'The Birds', and special interactive activities for kids! The Bird Rescue will be showing local birds and there will be a local bird watching tour.
Daily Saturday, August 31st through Monday, September 2nd at the Bay View Restaurant at The Inn at the Tides in Bodega Bay, Tippi Hedren will be appearing and signing autographs during the day. On the evening of Saturday, August 31st there will be a Birds themed celebration dinner and benefit for Tippi Hedren's Roar Foundation and Shambala Preserve.
