Two Bays, One Pirate
September 1, 2007
Lovers of the haunted houses of Halloween have long known that the epicenter of chills and thrills in the Bay Area has been Fremont's Pirates of Emerson.
For 16 years Karl Fields, owner, operator, and inspiration behind the Pirates of Emerson has been frightening Fremont and drawing crowds from all around the San Francisco Bay. This year Fields intends to bring his brand of Halloween mayhem to the Monterey Bay. Fields, in partnership with the Santa Cruz Beach Boardwalk, will be opening a second location called "Pirates of Emerson Invade the Beach Boardwalk" directly on the Boardwalk featuring four completely new haunted attractions by Pirates of Emerson.
Beginning October 5th, for $24.95, guests will be treated to the brand new Scaribbean Cove and Beneath the Boardwalk haunts on the Boardwalk, a new strobe lit Sand Trap maze in the sand on the beach, and a mind warping 20' spinning vortex tunnel all by Pirates of Emerson. The Boardwalk will be opening their Fright Walk and offering a selection of their amusements with unlimited rides as well as their usual concessions.
Don't worry about Fields spreading himself and his pirates too thin, he isn't forgetting about his flagship Fremont location. Fields' Fremont location will be opening September 28th as "The Haunting Fields". In addition to the main Pirates of Emerson haunt and their Bilge Rat Maze, Fields has accepted four new professional haunts to share his location, Densmore Manor, The Asylum, Rebel Yell, and Heartstoppers, adding up to a grand total of six haunts all for the one low price of $20. Those wishing not to wait in line can purchase a special "Speed Pass" for $30, something that can come in very handy close to Halloween when lines grow long.
Tickets for Pirates of Emerson Invade the Beach Boardwalk are available at all Boardwalk ticket booths. Tickets for The Haunting Fields, including the special speed pass, are available on the Pirates of Emerson website and at the door.
With this news alone, 2007 is shaping up to be an exciting year for Bay Area Halloween fanatics. We at Haunted Bay are very much looking forward to visiting both attractions this year.
