Baked Macaroni Shells with Chedder Cheese

9 tbs. butter

Salt and pepper (to taste)

1 lb. macaroni shells

6 tbs. flour

3 cups whole milk, heated
2 1/2 cups mild or sharp Chedder cheese, grated

1 cup unseasoned, fine dried bread crumbs

How to Prepare:

Preheat oven to 350 degrees.

Butter 2 1/2 qt. baking dish with 1 tbs. butter.

Boil salted water and add macaroni. Cook until tender, about 10 minutes.

Melt 6 tbs. of the butter and whisk in the flour. slowly add hot milk and stir until thick, about 5 minutes. Add Chedder cheese and cook 2 more minutes. Season with salt and pepper to taste.

Drain macaoni and place in large bowl. Pour cheese over macaroni and stir.

Transfer to baking dish and sprinkle with bread crumbs. Dot the surface with the remaining butter, cut up into small pieces.

Bake, uncovered, about 30 minutes, until the top is golden brown.
