Ginger Pumpkin Face Cookies

1 cup pecan halves, divided
1 cup 100% Bran cereal
1/4 cup light molasses
1 egg, beaten
1 1/4 cups flour
1 tsp. baking soda
1 tsp. ground ginger
1/4 tsp. ground cloves
1/2 cup butter, softened |
1 cup sugar, divided
Candy corn, melted chocolate, colored sprinkles, for garnish
2 cups powdered sugar
3 - 4 tbs. milk
Red and yellow food coloring
How to Prepare:|
Set aside 36 pecan halves; finely chop remainder. |
Mix bran, molasses and egg in sm. bowl; let stand 5 min.
Mix flour, baking soda and spices in another bowl; set aside.
Beat butter and 3/4 cup sugar in large bowl with mixer at med. speed until creamy; blend in bran mixture.
Stir in flour mixture until blended. Stir in chopped pecans. Form into 1 in. balls; roll in remaining 1/4 cup sugar.
Place 2 in. apart on lightly greased baking sheets. Flatten balls with bottom of glass. Insert 1 whole pecan into top edge of dough for stem.
Bake at 375 degrees for 7 - 9 min. Let stand 1 min. before removing to cooling racks.
Powdered Sugar Icing: Combine 2 cups powdered sugar and 3 - 4 tbs. milk until smooth. Tint with red and yellow food coloring to make orange tone.
Decorate with candy corn, melted chocolate and colored sprinkles.
